Secret Diner at the Plaza Athenee
A luxurious setting, an elegant dinner, a magical evening, a confidential soiree... the Plaza Athenee is welcoming magician Stefan Leyshon for a very confidential dinner event on just a few dates in Paris this autumn. Secret Dinner is more than just a dinner or a show; it's an experience, an unforgettable moment filled with poetry and emotion.
In 1845, Jean-Eugene Robert-Houdin opened his theatre in an apartment overlooking the Palais Royal gardens in Paris and performed his "Soirees fantastiques". Combining his expertise as a horologist with his talent as an illusionist, the famous magician created one of the most popular shows in Europe. Half-a-century later, Georges Melies, a magician and great admirer of Robert-Houdin, took over his theatre and created new illusions there, as well as introducing people to cinema. In 1938, Georges Melies died and, since then, some of the secrets behind his own illusions and those of Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin have been lost forever... or almost!
Now, magician Stefan Leyshon recreates the unexplained secrets of the two masters of illusion, in a very modern way. Dîner Secret is a 3D experience that appeals to all five senses, using all forms of contemporary, modern, new magic and combining them with mind reading and new technologies... not forgetting the fine dining that accompanies the performance. Everything is visible on the stage, nearby and at a 360-degree angle.
The launch of the Diner Secret in Paris, in partnership with one of the world's most prestigious luxury hotels, owes nothing to chance. Since the Hotel Plaza Athenee opened in 1913, it has welcomed the world's rich and famous as they seek to experience the energy and elegance of a truly unique city - Paris. It is in the Haute Couture Room, a wonderful setting in the heart of the hotel, that Stephane Leyshon will perform on the first Saturday of every month from autumn onwards. It's a show full of surprises, never before seen in Paris, and it includes a dinner prepared by Chef Alain Ducasse' teams for tables of two to ten people.
Stefan Leyshon performed his first magic show in 1983, at the age of 11. He was the youngest magician to be admitted to AFAP (the French "Magic Circle"), aged just 14. He began his career as a magician on TV shows and in cabarets before gaining recognition for his own particular style, a combination of magician and actor.
In the 1990s, he began working in films, on TV and in the theatre while building up a career in the world of special events. He created contemporary magic tricks, particularly for brands in the fashion, automobile and luxury sectors. He designed several very spectacular numbers which he performed at shows in more than one hundred towns on five continents. In 2006, he wrote and co-presented a TV show entitled, "Magiciens, leurs plus grands secrets", on France's M6 channel.
